Welcome to the Marine Corps league Lakeland Detachments web site
We welcome all new marines !!!
BE A PART OF HISTORY AGAIN !!
The Marine Walk Monument has been erected and dedicated in Veterans Park in Pompton Lakes. It consists of stone and granite, with a 70 foot walkway of pavers leading to and surrounding it.
The initial cost has been covered and now a maintenance fund is being established to care for the walk and monument. The fund will be financed by selling additional Engraved Pavers offered at $50.00 each. Each paver will be 4X8 inches and will be capable of being inscribed with three (3) rows of 13 letters each including spaces and punctuation, although 12 letters will be easier to fit and center. A Larger Paver 8"X8" is also available @ $100.00 for those that want to include more about their service. It will have 6 rows of 13 letters.
This monument is dedicated to all Marines of all wars past, present and future and to those who served with us. It is restricted to all Honorably discharged Marines, Navy Corpsman, Doctors, Chaplains and Seabees who served with us, and will be open to future Marines, Navy Corpsman, Doctors, Chaplains, and Seabees after they leave the service honorably.
There is no room for sentimental dedication on the pavers, so we would be pleased if they contained Name, and, or Rank or Rate, serial number, Campaign, Theater, Dates of service or other simple pertinent data.
Order forms for the pavers can be obtained by clicking on the Paver Order below.. It contains a single 4X8 and a single 8X8. Pavers will be placed in the Marine Walk once a year in November. The cut off date will be June 30th of the respective year. The pavers will be placed in random order on the walk. We will endeavor to place families together if informed in advance.
Our thanks goes to Marine Charley Meyers for being instrumental in keeping this monument in ship shape condition.
